Releasing Bodily Shame + Gaining Sexual Confidence (Vamp Camp!)

We’re slowly entering Queen Season here at Rose, Raven & Roar™, the space where we heal from power and control systems & create new relationship patterns based in safety and reciprocity: From the nervous system to attachment science, from domestic violence to white supremacy.

For us, Queen Season is about coming back to the body in a new way.  Seasonally influenced by my Irish/Celtic roots, we've just shaken off old patterns in the Fall, and we've been (as much as possible) deeply resting and restoring through Winter.

We feel early/mid/peak Spring season as an accelerated time that nature helps us create new relational patterns, with self, other, and all.  It's a very sensual time, inviting us into our bodies, sexuality, pleasure, and ability to receive (great for recovering over-givers) 🌹✨

Queen Season is also about autonomy, discernment, being of service, and a sense of agency.  From years of holding space for trauma victims, and from doing my own work, I feel strongly that slowly increasing our capacity to BE, to occupy our bodies, to feel our emotions, and to feel GOOD is a strong, steady pathway to liberation and pattern change.

THERE'S A REASON SYSTEMS OF DOMINATION ATTACK THE BODY.  Black and Brown bodies, women's bodies, limited ability bodies, trans bodies, and the intersecting layers of marginalization between them.

Systems of domination don't want bodies that are connected, switched on, feeling, growling, snarling, expressing, turned on, and discerning, because then we're less susceptible to control; because we know and trust ourselves.

Systems of domination (high-control religion, colonization, domestic violence, racism, patriarchy, etc.) will use tactics to attempt to make us either afraid, suspicious, and/or ashamed of our bodies, or disconnected from them entirely. Because then we’re easier to manipulate.

Our bodies hold the key to our sovereignty.  Is it any wonder that systems of domination don't want us to have that.

When we’re connected to our bodies, we

  • Know our YES vs. NO signals

  • Have a deep sense of both our boundaries and what turns us on

  • Trust ourselves more, because we’re connected to our internal signals and warning signs

At Vamp Camp, the amazing Liá Miyamura and I want to help folx access their bodies in the funnest, most accessible way possible through trauma-informed burlesque, nervous system regulation skills, belly dance, play, and ritual 😍🌹✨
